Send in the clown

In addition to a saxophone, Santa also brought Brennan a box of hats for dress up. Today his favorite was the clown hat. Add in his tap shoes and it was a self made comedy show. We're still not sure where he learned to bow at the end of his performance, but we'll believe it when he says "Boppa showed me!"

Singing in the Rain

What's a kid to do on a rainy day? A little tap dancing always makes the rain go away! Watch out Fred Astaire!

Camping Out!

Our First Camping Trip - Starved Rock

Brennan was a big help setting up the tents

We found lots of fun things to play with - like big logs and acorns

Master Grill Chef made a feast for dinner including trout, baked beans and squash.

Of course Mommy made sure Brennan learned about the important things.

It's official, the first Dorvacs Family Camping Trip was a big success!

Exploring!

We may live in the city, but we sure enjoy exploring the nature around us! Today at the North Park Nature Center we had three different deer sightings - each more exciting than the last. First we saw a beautiful doe staring at us from behind a tree, next a large buck jumped in front of us (too fast for a photograph!) and last we came face to face with this beauty. No special camera lenses here - we were probably less than 20 feet from this amazing creature!

Although our own little deer had been hoping to see some ducks at the Nature Center, he seemed pretty impressed with the deer - and tried a few antlers himself!

A Day in the Park

'Restless Rainbow' by Pae White

Friday's weather seemed made for a day down time where we could take in all the wonders that are Millennium Park! We enjoyed dipping our toes in the fountains,

flying kites in the pavilion (till we were nicely asked to stop by security),

and checking out the new roof top exhibit at the Art Institute.

We also enjoyed a splendid picnic on the grass while listening to the Chicago Symphony prepare for that night's concert.
Just doing our part to raise our own little 'Culture Vulture'!

If You Give a Brennan a Muffin

On a gloomy Thursday, Brennan and Mommy took a note from one of his favorite books, 'If You Give A Moose A Muffin', and made jelly muffins. Mommy did the measuring and B did the scooping - we both enjoyed the tasting!

Preparations

Stirring the flour

Helping open the jar of jelly - it was really tough!

Adding the jelly

DELICIOUS!

Bump, Crash, Slam!

To say Brennan's sweet face has taken a beating this spring would be an understatement. There's been the bruised tooth, a skinned nose and numerous busted lips. Today's trip to the park added a new mark - the ol' goose egg on the noggin! Here is the aftermath of the sad, sad story...

Spring Daze

After our trip to the beach was canceled due to fog rolling in at a crazy fast pace, we opted for fun in our own front yard. Brennan practiced his ABC's, drew spiders and kites - and did a celebration jump after each one.

BFFs

Whether it be bouncing on him or reading him stories, it seems Brennan and his new BFF (Best Friends Forever), Rody, are going to be inseparable for a long time to come.

(Wow! Check out that messy room!)

A Day in Indy

One may ask, what can you do in a day in Indianapolis? The Dorvacs' are here to report - LOTS!!!!

You can dig for dinosaurs, or maybe even become one.

You can conduct a train or take a lap in the Indy 500.

You can create art just like Dale Chihuly.

You can even take after your parents and preach a sermon or study the art of Rome.

HB, B!

Happy 2nd Birthday to our beautiful baby boy! We were so excited to spend the day together at the Peggy Notebaert Museum.

With it being such a gorgeous day we had fun inside and out!

How does he have the energy for all of this?
Home made coffee, of course!

Happy Valentine's Day

Brennan & Mommy enjoyed a yummy afternoon at Flourish Bakery in Andersonville. They hosted a cookie decorating event and Brennan got to decorate 6 different heart shaped cookies. He enjoyed schmearing the icing but the sprinkles were definitely his favorite - we even got to make a cookie for Daddy!
